Clinch Park and West Grand Traverse Bay

Start a first visit on the downtown beach and bayfront path for swimming, people-watching, and an easy sunset. Summer parking and the busiest beach hours make an early start more pleasant.

The Village at Grand Traverse Commons

The converted state-hospital campus gives a rainy or shoulder-season afternoon a real destination: shops, food, architecture, and trails in one hillside setting. It is a short drive from Front Street, not a quick block away.

Dennos Museum Center

Use this compact museum at Northwestern Michigan College for a weather-proof art and culture block with Inuit art and changing exhibitions. Check current gallery and event hours before building the day around it.

Boardman Lake Trail

This paved loop gives walkers and cyclists a local-waterfront alternative to the busier bay beaches. It is easiest as a relaxed morning or late-day outing rather than a substitute for a Sleeping Bear day.

TART Trail in Town

Ride or walk the in-town trail to connect downtown, the bay, Boardman Lake, and separated neighborhoods without searching for parking at every stop. Wind and road crossings make it less carefree than a protected park path.

Mission Point Lighthouse

Drive Old Mission Peninsula to its northern tip for bay views, lighthouse history, and an easy shoreline walk. Pair it with a peninsula meal or wine stop; it is too far from downtown to squeeze into a short afternoon.
